Keith Gordon was presented the Award at the New Zealand Underwater Association’s 65th AGM which was hosted by South Taranaki Underwater Club in the historic town of Hawera, over the weekend of 29th June – 1st July.
It was in recognition for his 65 years of service to diving which began in 1960 when he co-published, with Wade Doak, New Zealand’s first national diving magazine, DIVE. His subsequent works include co-publishing with Lynton & Edith Diggle the 8th edition of New Zealand Shipwrecks; and publishing Deep Water Gold covering the past and recent diving history of the RMS Niagara which sank with 590 gold ingots in the Hauraki Gulf during WWII.
He has an excellent knowledge of historical/Hardhat diving equipment.
A founding member of New Zealand Underwater Heritage Group.
Recognized by the New York Explorers Club, as a Fellow member.
He continues his involvement with shipwreck research/discovery and historical diving equipment.
