GIANLUCA GENONI – 126 metres: New Record for limited variable ballast freediving – Rapallo, September 22, 2001.

Date: 1/2/2002

Gianluca Genoni has set a new world record for limited variable ballast freediving, reaching a depth of 126 metres.

The dive took place in the waters off the coast of Rapallo and lasted 3 minutes and 9 seconds; the descent lasting 1 minute and 27 seconds.

The champion from Busto Arsizio has thus increased, by 1 metre, the preceding record of 125 metres – which he himself set last year in the waters off Porto Ottiolu in Sardinia.

This is the 10th world record set by Genoni. His first was in 1996, at a depth of 106 metres. In 5 years he has, therefore, bettered himself by a full twenty metres.
