The Stenmar Group’s ROVs used to search for the wreck of the Carpathia

Date: 1/8/2000

The Stenmar Group recently provided a suite of observation ROVs with onboard digital cameras to Oceanpoint of Sheffield, to search for the wreck of the Carpathia in the Atlantic. The footage to be shot will be used for a television programme about this vessel and the programme is to be shown on the Discovery Channel. This venture is being sponsored by Clive Cusler.

The ROVs have Sony VX1000 digital cameras installed inside the viewport, giving three chip digital broadcast quality underwater footage.

The Stenmar Group has identified the move into ROV operations as the most logical move for its development, given that they already have the two leading ROV training facilities based at the Underwater Centres in Fort William, Scotland and Tasmania, Australia.
