Welcome home A-73

Date: 1/8/2002

A young female killer whale nicknamed Springer (A-73) who was previously rescued near Seattle swam to freedom on July 15 to join her relatives off Telegraph Cove Vancouver Island after she was transported from the US Puget Sound. As she waited in the pen, she pressed her nose up against the net, looking at the open sea. When a group of whales swam by they began communicating. Scientists said it was too early to declare a complete success because it remained to be seen how long the family pod would remain together.
