Will be Asking Coastal Dwellers to help watch for poachers who steal tens of millions of dollars worth of seafood each year. From 1 October the eyes and ears of 40 people living on the shores of the Marlborough Sounds will be used in a trial to track and identify people poaching paua and crayfish. In the past year 103 people were prosecuted for paua poaching and it is estimated up to 950 tonnes of paua is taken each year.
