At a full council meeting on 29 November 2006 the Mayor Bob Harvey and his council were presented a print of a seahorse created by Canadian environmental artist
Rogest
(Ron Steven) in appreciation for their support of the Western Underwater Research Teamâs (WURT) projects. Mike Percy chairperson, WURT who presented the print to the mayor has had a long association with Bob Harvey since he was elected Mayor in 1992. Bob Harvey is well known for his love affair of the West Coast and the Waitakere Ranges and their history. He has written several books about the area. He is also well known for supporting local environmental issues. He and his council members have supported the WURT in their research projects such as Seahorse 2000 and monitoring Maui dolphin population off the North Islandâs west coast. Mike and his group of researchers look forward to continuing their relationship with the Mayor and the council members in the years ahead. Visit:
