British female diver’s deepest wreck dive

Date: 1/8/2007

Diver Nina Preisner reached a wreck resting at 525 feet deep, the deepest dive to a wreck by a female diver. She dived to the Jolanda, a Cypriot merchant vessel that sank in the Red Sea. It took Nina only four minutes to reach 525ft (159.8m) but her return trip took three hours due to decompression stops. Nina is a full-time scuba instructor and has logged over 3,000 dives. By the time Preisner reached the wreck she was breathing a mixture of 7% oxygen, 77% helium and 16% nitrogen. She quickly did an about face and began her lengthy return to the surface.
