‘Best Job in the World’ Winner

Date: 2/6/2009

A bungee jumping, ostrich-riding British charity worker was named the winner of the ‘Best Job in the World’ – a contract to serve as caretaker of Australia’s Hamilton Island in the Great Barrier Reef. Ben Southall was selected from nearly 35,000 international applicants for this assignment to swim, explore and relax while writing a blog to promote the area. He was selected for the position after 16 finalists (including a New Zealander) spent four days on the island for an extended interview process.  ‘Work’ for Ben will start on 1 July .
