New 176 Acre Kelp Reef

The largest artificial reef in the US, near San Clemente in California, was designed to compensate for environmental damage done by a nuclear power plant. Costing US$46 million to build, Wheeler North is now a kelp forest. There’s an abundance and diversity of fish similar to nearby natural reefs and no signs of invasive species.
