Nuclear Power Propulsion

Date: 1/2/2011

A research consortium was established to examine marine applications for small modular reactors (SMRs) which are believed to be technically feasible. It has the potential to drastically reduce carbon dioxide emissions caused by commercial shipping and it is believed that SMRs with a thermal power output of more than 68 megawatts have the potential to be used as plug-in nuclear ‘batteries’.
