Prehistoric Shark Teeth for Auction

Date: 1/6/2011

A collection of 182 prehistoric shark teeth, assembled on gaping jaws will be auctioned in Texas in June. The teeth of the ancient Megalodon were collected by amateur fossil hunter Vito Bertucci over two decades before he was killed in 2004. The 9×11 foot jaws at Heritage Auctions (starting bid US$625,000) are the biggest of several jaws Vito made with the Megalodon teeth he collected. While the jaws are made from Plexiglas, the teeth are fossils, the likes of which have individually sold for US$10,000 to $15,000 recently.
