Record for Longest Scuba Dive in Salt Water
Florida scuba diver Allen Sherrod set a world record for the longest scuba dive in saltwater: 48 hours, 13 minutes. (Previously 48 hours, 8 minutes and 7 seconds held by William Gordon). Divers with Sherrod’s safety team were pounded by surf and sea conditions as they carried fresh air tanks out to him. Sherrod recently set a world record for the longest freshwater scuba dive in Central Florida (five days).
