Acupuncture Helps Hypothermic Turtles

Date: 1/8/2013

Two endangered juvenile Kemp’s Ridley sea turtles, stranded on
Cape Cod during a cold spell, remained calm as an acupuncturist gently tapped more than a dozen needles into their leathery skin during a session to decrease inflammation and swelling on their front flippers, restore a full range of motion on those limbs and help them regain their appetites. The turtles were among a record number of over 400 turtles of various species stranded over the winter.
