Diver Hit by Propeller in New Zealand’s Northland Named

Bruce Porter, a diver, was killed after being hit by a boat propeller in Northland. Police said the 56-year-old was struck by the commercial dive boat Pacific Hideaway after he had surfaced near the Poor Knights Islands.

He was taken on board bleeding, with serious facial injuries, but still conscious. He died soon after. Police are investigating on behalf of the coroner and Maritime New Zealand will also investigate the incident.
