Police and Worksafe New Zealand are investigating the death of a man in his early 30s at the country’s only commercial diving school.
Emergency services were called to the New Zealand School of Commercial Diver Training (NZSCDT) lake training facility just outside Huntly. The school, which regularly conducts dives at Lake Puketirini, is the only commercial diving school reaching offshore level. The dead man was an international student who had been doing an assessment dive, the school said. The man was pulled from the water and those at the scene administered CPR. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
