Conflict from mining activities on Bangka Island off North Sulawesi continued after a local resort manager voiced concern. Four foreign tourists were diving off the coast of the island when officers and workers of PT Mikgro Metal Perdana (MMP) allegedly forced them to the surface.
The officers and workers confiscated all their diving certifications.
Femmy Pangkerego, head of North Minahasa Cultural and Tourism office,
regretted the incident and said there were no diving restrictions
